Tristan Orchard | Sound Recordist
A graduate of the UBC Film Programme, Tristan Orchard works out of Vancouver, BC, as an independent writer and director. His short films, which have played in international festivals from Vancouver to New York to Melbourne, include My Magic Boots (2002), The Moustache Club (2003) and Sword Boy (2005). Tristan has extensive experience as a sound designer—credits include Anne Koizumi’s Patricia Grey (Slamdance 2005), Alex Levine’s My Old Man (TIFF 2004) and Scott Burton’s Gravity Boy (2006). For the original Patterns, his sound recording work earned him the 2005 Golden Sheaf award for Best Overall Sound and a 2005 Leo Award nomination for Best Overall Sound in a Short Drama. Currently Tristan is directing and producing his second season of On Screen!, a Bravo documentary series that explores and celebrates the Canadian film industry’s most important cultural milestones. I Stepped in Some Pooh, his newest short comedy, has just been completed.
